As we step into the Fall Equinox, nature invites us to embrace balance and harmony. This sacred time of year marks the moment when day and night are equal, a perfect opportunity to pause and on the transitions happening around us. On September 23rd, 2024, the Sun enters Libra, the astrological sign symbolizing equilibrium, justice, and relationships. Libra’s ruling planet Venus encourages beauty, peace, and grace in all things, making this a powerful moment to realign with your inner and outer worlds.
Finding Balance Through the Shadows
In my Solar Return chart, I am a Libra rising. Throughout this year, I’ve been experiencing a dull ache in my lumbar or lower back. In astrology, each zodiac sign governs specific parts of the body, and Libra rules the lumbar region, which includes the lower back and vertebrae. This area is essential for support, flexibility, and balanceβjust like Libra’s themes of fairness and harmony.
I’ve never experienced lower back pain before, so I couldn’t pinpoint why I was suddenly feeling this discomfort. After consulting a medical professional, I also considered seeking guidance from a Medical Intuitive. Through this, I began to understand that deep-seated emotional issues might also be contributing to my lower back pain. This led me down the path of doing shadow work.
The Importance of Embracing Our Shadows
Embracing and healing our shadows is a profound and much-needed process in todayβs society. By diving into shadow work, we can remove energetic blocks that hold us back and learn to fully appreciate our life here on Earth. Shadow work helps us restore balance to areas of our life that feel overwhelming, chaotic, or stagnant. When we integrate our shadows, we allow ourselves to feel worthy of love, success, and fulfillment. Shadows may form when we feel: Fear of Rejection or Anger or Resentment, Perfectionism, People Pleasing, Jealousy, Need for Control, Self-Sabotage, Shame, Guilt, Insecurity, Narcissism, Victim Mentality, Judgment of Others, Addictive Behaviors, Laziness.
Disclaimer: When you start doing shadow work, I highly recommend you find a trusted friend or a professional to help assist you when the shadows are to intense to take.

Holistic Steps to Perform Shadow Work
ππCreate a Safe Space
Start by creating a safe, quiet environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. This can be done through meditation, journaling, or simply sitting in stillness. Set an intention to bring awareness to the parts of yourself that youβve been avoiding.
ππIdentify Your Shadows
Shadows are often the traits, beliefs, or emotions we have been told are wrong or unacceptable. These may come from childhood experiences, societal expectations, or personal fears. Pay attention to emotional triggers, recurring negative patterns, or feelings of shame, guilt, or fear. Journaling about these moments can help uncover hidden aspects of yourself.
ππPractice Self-Compassion
One of the most critical steps in shadow work is to approach it with compassion. When you uncover a shadow aspect, resist the urge to criticize or judge yourself. Instead, treat these parts with love and understanding. Acknowledge that these traits or emotions developed for a reason, perhaps as a way to protect yourself.
ππFace Your Emotions
Shadow work requires facing uncomfortable emotions head-on. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes up without trying to push it away. Whether it’s anger, sadness, or fear, these emotions need to be felt and processed. The more you allow yourself to sit with your feelings, the more they can move through you and release.
ππIntegrate Your Shadows
Integration is the process of accepting and embracing the shadow aspects of yourself. This means understanding that these traits are not inherently badβthey are part of the human experience. For example, if you’ve always felt guilty for being angry, you can learn to see that anger, when expressed healthily, is a valid emotion that can set boundaries.
ππAffirm Your Worthiness
As you perform shadow work, affirm to yourself that you are worthy of love, success, and peace in every aspect of your life. Releasing energetic blocks can help you realize that your shadows do not define your worth. You are a whole person, deserving of acceptance and healing.
Bringing Light to the Shadows
As you align with Libraβs energy during the Equinox, consider how both light and shadow coexist in nature, and within you. Shadow work can be a powerful tool for self-growth, allowing you to release old patterns and embrace a more authentic version of yourself. Practices such as journaling, meditation, and even therapy can help you dive deep into your subconscious, bringing those hidden aspects to light.

The medical intuitive that I found very beneficial, as I work on my shadows is Jaye Anne from https://www.jayeannehealing.com/… I’m not affiliated with her work, I’m just sharing a resource that I found beneficial as I embraced my Shadows.
